As a Dental Assistant, you will likely perform a wide range of duties in both dental procedures as well as patient care. Some of these responsibilities can include:
- Assisting during dental procedures and exams
- Performing routine dental cleanings, polishing, and fluoride treatments

What You Can Expect:
Medical Assistants are always in high-demand and when you complete the Medical Assisting program at Amerion College, you’ll be ready to work at the side of physicians anywhere medical care is provided – doctors’ offices, clinics, hospitals, laboratories, ambulatory care centers, nursing homes, surgical centers, and more.
As a Medical Assistant, you will be instrumental in helping patients feel at ease during their healthcare visits. You will likely perform a wide range of duties in both patient care as well as administrative areas. Some of these responsibilities can include:
- Assisting the physician during procedures and exams
- Explaining treatments and procedures to patients
- Preparing patients for examinations
- Performing basic laboratory tests, including blood draws
- Administering medications, including vaccinations/immunizations
- Taking electrocardiograms
- Wound care and changing dressings
- Updating and filing patient records
- Coding and filling out insurance forms
- Arranging for hospital admissions and laboratory services
The five-year average for the exam passage rate for the years 2019 – 2023 is 88.24%.

What You Can Expect:
A career in medical coding provides you with a great deal of opportunity and flexibility, including the possibility of working entirely remotely. Amerion College Medical Coding graduates have landed positions at local hospitals, medical practices, surgery centers, the VA, insurance companies, and more.
As a medical coder, you maintain strong knowledge of anatomy, pathophysiology, and up-to-date codes for medical procedures. You’ll rely on ICD-10 and CPT coding books to translate details from patient information (physician’s notes, lab reports, procedures, diagnoses, etc.) into medical codes for the purpose of record-keeping and accurate billing.
Your accurate coding also helps the healthcare industry to reliably track statistics to analyze disease patterns to identify national-level health trends and potential prevention plans.
